Former Woodbridge High School Volleyball standout Mike Stewart (2007) and The Ohio State Buckeyes won the NCAA Division 1 National Volleyball Championship on May 7th. Stewart and the Buckeyes defeated host Penn State in the semi-finals and then defeated UC Santa Barbara 15-9 in the fifth game of a five game match.
This is Ohio State's first national title in volleyball.
Stewart, a senior at Ohio State, concluded his collegiate career with two final four appearances at the Junior College level with Orange Coast College and two final fours with Ohio State culminating with a National Championship.
At OCC, Stewart was a two time All Pacific Coast Conference selection.
At Woodbridge, Stewart was an all league section, an All Orange County selection, and an All Orange County ALL Star Game participant in his his senior year.
Ohio State was voted #1 in the last coaches poll of the season.
